Waking Up to the World

After reading about the angry protests happening throughout the Middle East and in Africa this morning, the words "World on Fire" popped into my head. Not knowing for certain why, I googled it and this is what I found:

If you'd like to spend a little more time in the world, the real world (which I hope you do), I invite you to see it through the eyes of Steve McCurry. He travels the world and then opens our eyes to it through his beautiful and soul-filled photographs. stevemccurry.wordpress.com

  1. Thank you for sharing this. I will check out the photos of Steve McCurry...seems like I've done this before, but will do it again. Thanks!

    1. There's always something new to see there. Remember the Afghan girl on the cover of Nat. Geo. many years ago? That was Steve's photo.

    1. The video made some very important points. We live in a world of grave discrepancies between nations and people.

  3. I like Sarah and she did this for nothing and it coast little to make. This Steve fellow is something else for sure. Endless pictures each one making you think about others in this world as well instead of just us here. Americans have a problem thinking of the "others" as people.

    1. She is so good, isn't she, OF? And McCurry consistently posts images of consequence. We need to really See who inhabits this world with us. The U.S. seems to have a disconnect between ourselves and "others," that isn't serving us, or anyone else.

  4. We often take for granted for what we have, and forget many around us. That is one of the reasons I am so determined at supporting the Food Bank, it seems so silly in my direct world for people to go hungry.

    1. What we can do locally is as important as what is done globally. It's what makes it work on a global scale.

  5. I needed to watch this video this morning so 'Thank you Teresa.' I really needed a reminder of all the others in this world who have a load less than I do. Your comment reply to 'One Fly' goes for us all here in the U.K. too.

    1. There's a whole lot more I could be doing. It was a wake-up call for me, as well. Thanks, Jane.

  6. Thank you, Teresa. You are always pointing out things to me I should be seeing, rather than the depressing news that the MSM shows me.

  7. Dear Teresa, thank you for the real world. It is a lesson--the video and Steve's photographs--in Oneness. Peace.
