Taking a Stand

Time is precious and I know some folks don't want to click on links, but I wanted you to to know there are those who are taking a stand for this beautiful old world, for what is right and good. This is Joel Clement's Letter of Resignation from the Department of the Interior. Reading it made my day.

  2. Thanks for sharing! But this leaves the spot open to someone who thinks trump-like?

    1. That crossed my mind, as well. Those who really care are faced with an almost impossible decision: stay and feel impotent or leave and find another place to take a stand where you can possibly make a difference. These can't be easy decisions.

  3. The content of that letter is important, but apart from the content, something else struck me. It's clear, cogent, well-reasoned, and well written. It is, in fact, a rational argument rather than an emotional screed. We could use more of that, I think. Part of the reason social media tends to be ineffective when it comes to persuasion is that shrieking at someone doesn't persuade; it drives them away.

I'm glad you posted this. I'd heard about the resignation, but hadn't read the letter.

    1. It is a breath of fresh air to read something so well-written. We are being trained by social media and the news to respond to anger and outrage and we have plenty of reasons to be angry, but I'm tired and want to approach life from a more reasoned place. Thank you for reading and responding, Linda.
