Remembering Faron

I rarely re-post anything, but my micropoetry this morning brought one to mind and so I've decided to do so via a link. I guess it won't hurt to put a Christmas post smack dab in the middle of summer. I hope you'll click on the link and read, or reread:

I'll Be Home For Christmas, But Not With Faron Young

Here's my poem that brought this to mind:

  1. Well, I'm glad you linked to your older post. Now I know that he really did flirt with you. I had assumed that you imagined it while listening to his music. Which in itself is nice, of course. Pretty sure I felt that way about him.

    1. He remained very good looking and very charming. My poem came out of a dream last winter, based on a real event, but in a different setting ... :)) Thanks for reading and commenting, Nancy!

  2. I like the poem and the piece about Faron who I had never heard of. He does look a real charmer.

  3. In the Chapel In The Moonlight was my favourite of Faron's. http://open.spotify.com/track/7lVcG5IIYtdXPyBftSP7ho

    1. "Til the roses turn to ashes ... til the moonlight turns to dust ..." yes, very nice. I never tire of hearing his version of "Hello Walls," either. Thank you for commenting, Tony ...

  4. I enjoyed both the poem and the post with your meeting with Faron. Should you have flirted more? Life is so full of these moments where things could go one way, or another. Relationships are certainly like that. It is interesting thinking back through life about friendships that developed, and other ones where the potential was never realized. I guess that the whole of nature works that way. There are some lovely poplar trees near here, and for a week or two of every year the road below them turns white with all their downy seed. It is amazing to think of how many forests they might have made..., yet almost none of those seeds will produce anything at all, but how lovely it is if even one seed does mature and take root somewhere!

As I write this it is just after 1 in the morning here, and I have been working since just after 3am the morning before, is that 22 hours? I can't do the math! A deadline to meet with work, and two electric kilns to fire. I think I can finally switch things off about an hour from now.. Thank you so much for your comment on my blog, it was lovely to hear from you. Px

    1. This is a beautiful response, and I am so grateful for your thoughts. The poplar tree seed analogy is perfect.

It's a real treat for me to think of you in your studio ... the dedication you have ... it is inspiring. Everything you create graces the world with beauty. And, I love knowing this circle of "time" is shared.

  5. Probably good that you didn't flirt back. He was a man carrying many burdens and sorrows.
I always hear Hello Walls when someone mentions his name.
