Morning Ritual

There are a few Tumblr sites I visit as part of my morning ritual. I love seeing what's been posted each day. They're places of peace and reflection. And, I like looking at pretty pictures. Once in a while it leads me to another Tumblr and I add it to my bookmarks. Yesterday I ran across one and decided to borrow an idea I found there. I googled vintage postcards, downloaded one that fit what I wanted to capture and added lyrics to it from Leonard Cohen, one of my favorite songwriters. It's not highly creative but it's fun and I may do a few more, either using his lyrics or other songwriters I admire.

In other news, we got our first real snowfall yesterday, about five inches. I actually love shoveling snow as long as it doesn't become a Sisyphean task. This was just right. I hope all is well in your corner of the world.

    1. Hi Jeanne, It's so good to see you here ... how are you and, if I may ask, how is Jules? Hope you're both doing well ...

  2. That's about as much fun as you can have with a Leonard Cohen song. No, seriously, I rather like that.

  4. So far it has been unusually warm here in Virginia. It feels more like spring.

    1. Here, as well, until today .... now, it's getting rather cold ... I like the snow, don't like the cold ... good to see you, John. :)

  5. I do enjoy word-and-image combinations, and this is especially nice. I have a soft (and slightly nostalgic) spot in my heart for the NYC of the 1970s and early 1980s, and your combination captures it wonderfully well.

I love the sparkle and glitz of Christmas in NY, too. Have you seen this year's Saks 5th Avenue Light Show? I love it, although the snowflakes of earlier years are more to my taste.

  8. What a perfect marriage of words and images and emotions, as well. Your snowfall sounds just about perfect, Teresa. It is grey and gloomy here, and I find myself hoping for snow on Christmas Eve (though not too much before as family is coming down from the Twin Cities. It can follow them down, at a safe distance. :)

    1. Thank you, Penny. May your family arrive safe and sound, just ahead of the snow ...:)

  9. Every now and then I bookmark a new blog or site I've discovered and like. Then one day I notice I have hundreds of bookmarks. How did that happen?

Enjoy your snow and (presumably) your white Christmas. Here we're having record heat. The forecast for Christmas day is temps in the mid 70's. I'm OK with that, but at some point nature needs a good solid freeze.

    1. Sometimes I go through and have to decide what stays and what goes ....

The snow is dwindling but I do like the milder temps ...if this is winter I'll take it ... but as an organic farmer you know the value of the seasons ... :)

  10. Teresa -- I too am fascinated by old postcards. I like the one you have on your post now -- New York where my granddaughter is attending college. I think I might send her an email with a copy of your postcard if that is alright with you. -- thanks -- barbara
