Lonely Street

Several months ago, I was introduced to micro-poetry by Cletis Stump, a friend and fellow blogger. Shortly after I created my new poetry site, he created a Tumblr site and with my permission has been regularly posting my poems there along with his own, as well as occasional guest poets he's chosen from Twitter. Shelly, aka WildThing, a friend from Twitter, created this youtube video for us using a song Cletis chose by the great Patsy Cline. You might want to enlarge your screen to read the poems and even pause at certain poems ... I hope you enjoy it:

  1. Teresa, this was brilliant ... I wish the scenes didn't go by so quickly so, not only can I savor the words but also the scene... I'll listen again ... maybe I'll just pause ... ha! yes... that'll work... m'brain processes stuff I like slowly ...

    love this...

    1. Thank you so much, Carolyn. I'm glad you're enjoying it. It does require additional viewing or pausing ... thanks for taking the time...

  2. Stunning. You've put me back in touch with loneliness for the moment. I remember how it takes over, and also how it deepens our creativity, or at least our appreciation of creativity. And yes, the second time through I paused at every scene/poem.

    1. Hi Nancy, I'm so glad you like this. Thank you for taking the time to pause and read. Yes, creativity blooms often when loneliness stays awhile, and my alone time offers what I need to let the creativity flow ...

  3. This is wonderful Teresa. I had not seen Cletis' poems. These are really powerful.
As I piddle around trying to write songs, I've thought of borrowing lines from your poems. But I think that would be cheating. :)
    Thanks for sharing this.

    1. If you do any borrowing, let me know and we'll call it a collaboration ... :) Thanks, Bill. I've passed your comment on to Cletis.

  4. I always attribute Patsy to house cleaning since she was played when my wife always worked around the house.

    1. That's not bad music to clean house to ... I've been listening to her for as long as I have memory ... as early as four years old.

  5. Oh, lordy, girl, what a heart tugging post with such visuals and such poetry! Three wonderful blogging//YouTubing talents you all are. A wonderful match with Patsy Cline. It did help to pause, and as I did, I wondered at the possibility of the poems and pictures making it to a calendar, daybook, posters. Yep. I wondered.

    1. Well, Cletis and I each have at least one book of poetry we've done at Snapfish, an online site for creating our own books and such, and we also have one collaboration and desk calendars... it's been fun making books that sort of mimic what you see in the video. Cletis has made posters, as well. So far, it's just been for our own fun ... that may change....

    1. Neither Cletis or I are very tech savvy, so it was really nice of Shelly to do this for us. The pages are directly from the Tumblr site.

      Yes, it is ...

    1. Thank you, Steven. I'm a huge fan of Patsy Cline, and was so glad when it was chosen for the video. Getting comments from you is like opening presents ... thank you.

  9. Patsy Cline was a real trailblazer. And to this day she is still in a class by herself. There are so few in that group. Hank Williams, George Jones, Roy Orbison.

    1. I agree completely. There has been no one else like her. And that's a fine group of menfolk ...

  10. What a beautiful collaboration. You're all so talented, and the elements came together wonderfully well.

I agree that Patsy Cline was one of the best, but I never listen to her any more. I think it's because of the melancholy, among other things. There was a time in my life when "Crazy", "I Fall to Pieces" and "Lonely Street" made for good listening. Today, not so much. I much prefer to take in expressions of sanity, wholeness and solitude. ;-)

    1. I understand. Some songs do that to me, but with Patsy I always feel something that transcends sadness...

  11. I had starred this post in email, intending to come back and view sooner than today. But today it was and how so I love the collaboration of micro-poetry and the singing of Patsy Cline. Truly beautiful. Thank you.
