Living at Lonewolf

My friend, JB, from Moab, Utah, has created a great little video using images from Lonewolf, my home. They're all photographs I've taken during the last year and a half and used in various posts. You might recognize some of them. I turned the images over to him, he pulled them all together and chose a beautiful song to accompany them, "Women 'Cross the River," by Linda Ronstadt (written by David Olny). When I first watched and listened to it, it brought me to tears. Thank you, JB, for putting up with me all these years, for taking the time to really get to know me, and for liking me in spite of it.

  2. It's a beautiful reminder to me of all that I'm surrounded by. In every season there is so much to See.

  3. The video gave me goose bumps...the lyrics and your pictures taken with such care and love. I recently met you and so I haven't seen where you live. A peaceful, abundant spot on this earth. And, of course, being a Minnesota girl...it warmed my heart! Lovely!! What a precious gift. :)

  5. What a lovely place you have. I remember seeing some of those pictures on your blog. How kind of JB to put this together for you, his friend.

  6. And, when you have gone from this world Teresa Evangeline, God will ask, What did you leave for them, Teresa?" And I, my friend, will step forward, "If I may speak, Lord, (I'm like that you know.) Teresa lived flat out with passion and fire but she also paused often along the sometimes rocky path you set for us, sat quietly, and drank from the beauty of your creation. And, Lord, the cool part is, she taught the rest of us to be still every now and then so we may know you better. Anyway, that's my take on the subject."

  8. RITA, It gave me goosebumps on first listen, as well, as though seeing everything for the first time. Minnesota, with its four seasons really is a beautiful place to live.

DJAN, I feel very blessed by this friendship. Friends that stick around through thick and thin are the very best kind.

LINDA M., I thought you might recognize some of these. You've been with me on this journey for awhile now and I thank you.

CLETIS, I have been asking myself that very question and so cannot adequately thank you for portraying me in such a beautiful light in the sweet hereafter. I will be more than grateful for your advocacy at that time. :) And in the next life....

MONTUCKY, Thanks so much. Your photographs of where you live, and of the incredible hikes you go on in the mountains around you, simply astound me. It's good to share the beauty of the world.

TONY, If you ever get across the pond and halfway across this country, yes, I will take lodgers. :)

  9. Teresa, what a beautiful place you live in. I love all your flowers. I thought of my mother after wards, who loved her garden. She had such beautiful perrenials like you and lilacs and roses and apple trees. The apple flowers are some of the most beautiful flowers in spring. (it seems you've got some tough winters!)
I've got some cd's with Linda Ronstadt. I like her voice and her music - I also like what I have heard about her way of life.
Thank you for this beautiful video.
    Have a nice Sunday!

  10. Dear Teresa, this journey through the Minnesota seasons accompanied by the women 'cross the river was elegiac for me. Haunting. Evocative. Your friend captured a spirit.

I especially liked these two lines in the song: "But the women 'cross the river never learn to build a wall" and "but the women 'cross the river they can kill you will their eyes." Deep down truth here.

    Peace.

  12. Ah...... Linda Ronstadt! I've never listened to this song before....

  13. Lonewolf is such a beautiful place! Your photos and the song are absolutely perfect together.
You are an inspiration and I am trying to learn to be still and enjoy the moment.

  14. GRETHE, I love that this made you think of your mother. Apple trees do have the most beautiful blossoms. I felt like I was living in Eden this spring. It's so cool that you have Linda Ronstadt CDs. She has a lovely voice, and she seems to be an aware and thoughtful person.

DEE READY, I love those lines, also. It pleased me very much that he felt this was the right song to accompany my images.

TM, Thanks so much for all the viewings and your response. It's a great gift to me, and a tribute to our friendship.

R.W. Isn't that a great song? I love every word.

LADYCAT, Thank you. I love that he chose this song. The strength it portrays is inspiring to me.

  18. Teresa, that's really beautiful, music and especially the photos. I like the snow and deer and the arbor among it all. That's a really good friend you have to create that for you. Lonewolf is fantastic! A beautiful place. The name is appropriate, too. I am saying, Hi -- to Buddy. Thanks, Teresa.

  22. I already knew from following your blog that you live in a beautiful place, but the video really brings it to life with an emotional impact. And I love Cletis's testimonial on your behalf. Your place must require a lot of hard work, but your blog is a place for reflection on beauty and life. I'm always happy to see a new post from you!

  23. All of it, so beautiful.
I love your posts, so much thought goes into them.

  24. NANCY, Seeing them placed together in this way was very emotional for me and is a perfect reminder of all I have to be grateful for.

Cletis's words were very generous and I was deeply moved by them. Having this site to record and reflect on my life means a great deal to me. Thanks so much.

FRIKO, Thank you. I love what I'm doing, and that helps a lot.

  25. What a great world you have - and what a terrific friend! I must admit though...it is your name that drew me in! Beautiful! Your parents really did a nice thing by giving you such names!

  26. Oh .. I knew it! you 're an angel.. you live in paradise!

    ReplyDelete
  27. What a truly wonderful place you live! And a lovely song. It must have felt amazing to you to see this lovely video.

  28. I have such mixed emotions at seeing such a place - awe at its beauty, appreciation for the work that underlies that beauty, sadness at knowing that I never in my life will live in such a place, though it would be my fondest wish.

On the other hand, even those of us in the "concrete jungle" can soften the edges a bit. Perhaps I can manage a bit more natural beauty around me than I've thought. I'll keep this video as a word of encouragement to help me along!

  29. ANN, Yes, to both of those things! There is a story to my name that I will share sometime. My last name was actually my mother's middle name. :) Thanks so much for visiting.

JOAN, It is sort of my own little Eden. And, if I'm an angel, you are my Mother Superior of the Angelic Realm. :)

JENNY, It really was very moving for me. I don't take it for granted necessarily, but to see some of the images I've taken brought together in this fashion, and the song he chose... well, it did bring me to tears. Thank you!

  30. SHOREACRES, I sometimes fear I've bitten off more than I can chew at my age. It is an awfully lot of work, but I continue to see it as a way to honor the work of those who created this little parcel of land and the beauty that's here.

I am a real champion of creating beauty and adapting large ideas into smaller, more doable ones. Most apartments and condos have small terraces that can contain baskets of flowers and containers for gardening, such as peppers or tomatoes. Sometimes, it's enough to hold it in our thought and stay open to it, maybe even photographing it as we drive around those backroads. :)

  31. Oh, my, what a gift; the music, the photos, and your little piece of paradise. This was so very lovely, Teresa, and I thank you for bringing your gift to us here. I know I could get lost in your gardens - anytime of year.

  32. Penny, I feel so blessed to have found this little piece of Paradise. Every season brings fresh beauty. My job this winter is to appreciate more fully the cold and the snow. Gloomy skies will take a bit more work. :)

  33. The video is great! And of course, all from photos that you are responsible for so your eye contributed so much to the beauty of it all. And I love the way that JB put them in order seasonally. Quite and eye for that. I can see why it brought you to tears when you viewed it. It is lovely.

  34. TERI, Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. And so grateful that he took the time to put it together. It's nice to have this compilation.

ISH, Thanks! It's been a joy to share with everyone.

  41. Wonderful video, beautiful photos or each season, I was thinking as I watched it would end at winter, but then I was surprised but then not really surprised that it renewed itself again in Spring, much as I think of you and your personality always wanting to see the positive, renewal and growth, what a great friend you have in JB who obviously knows you well.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Linda, Somehow, JB ending it in spring, a tine of renewal, seemed like the perfect place to bring it full circle. Thanks.

  50. This journey along the path called time, leaves so much to remember. Loved the song very much, and the pictures are wonderful. The wooden structures though old, speak tonnes of history. Beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  51. C7, I'm so glad you found this post. The wooden structures do add so much to my place. I like the history of them, too. It's a place that was and is well lived-in. I love your statement about time....

  52. As promised, I am revisiting your beautiful blog today. I really enjoyed this video your friend so lovingly put together for you. I love Lonewolf, what an amazing home you have and have cultivated. I have only begun to explore your blog, but already am mesmerized by it. I too love Edward Abbey, and exploring places that time seems to have forgotten. I too, love and write poetry trying to capture my love of nature. It's people such as yourself that give me hope for mankind. Blessings to you!
